We are delighted to offer you the opportunity to join for us for a special Six Nations 2022 preview dinner with arguably the greatest player of them all, Sir Gareth Edwards CBE. Hosted by popular broadcaster Phil Steele, the dinner will be held at the luxurious 4 star Quay Hotel & Spa, Deganwy on Wednesday 22nd February, 2022.
Sir Gareth was very prominent in the Welsh team of the ’60s and ‘70s – an era where Wales dominated the Five Nations Championship, winning the title seven times, including three grand slams. He is one of a small group of Welsh players (Gerald Davies CBE, JPR Williams MBE, Ryan Jones MBE, Adam Jones, Gethin Jenkins and Alun Wyn Jones) to have won the Grand Slam on three separate occasions.
Edwards also played ten times for the British and Irish Lions, playing for the 1971 Lions team that was the only Lions team to win a series in New Zealand, and for the unbeaten 1974 side in South Africa.
Edwards’ try for the Barbarians against New Zealand in 1973, often referred to as simply ‘that try‘, is regarded as the greatest ever.
The evening will commence at 7.30pm and will include a three-course dinner, charitable raffle and auction.
