This exclusive lunch (limited to just 120 guests) will be held at the Grade II listed Cornerstone, Cardiff on Friday 2nd May 2025.
The popular Irishman famously nicknamed ‘The Clones Cyclone’ held the WBA and lineal featherweight titles from 1985 to 1986. On a memorable, balmy night in June 1985, a television audience of twenty million watched as McGuigan achieved his dream and became Featherweight Champion of the World by defeating Eusebio Pedroza, voted ‘Fight of the Year’ by the British Boxing Board of Control. Undisputedly, Barry McGuigan MBE was one of the best boxers of his generation.
Since hanging up his gloves, McGuigan has established himself on-screen as a boxing commentator and most recently entered “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!” McGuigan continues to be involved in the media, and in training, promoting and managing young fighters, including some of the best up-and-coming talents in the sport.
He is an enormously entertaining speaker, sharing anecdotes and offering his own insight into what it takes to reach the top in one of the most physically and mentally demanding of sports.
The afternoon will commence at 1pm and will include a special two-course Irish themed menu designed by head chef Spiro Borg, a charitable raffle and auction (live and silent) which includes a fantastic array of events, hospitality, experiences and memorabilia. The dress code is smart casual.
Tables of 10 are available from £950+VAT. A quantity of individual covers on shared tables of 10 are also available from £95+VAT per person. We also have a limited number of Platinum tables available at £1,200+VAT. You will receive a selection of fine wine along with prime location seating for the main event.
Our new VIP experiences are also available at £1,800+VAT per table. You and your guests will receive an exclusive pre event Champagne reception with our special guest, a souvenir VIP lanyard, photo opportunity along with a selection of fine wine and prime location seating for the main event.
